The Akerselva River comes out of Lake Maridalsvannet north of Oslo, winding its way through parks and residential areas before going underground through downtown. It dumps into the Oslo Bay near the Opera House.
Bus 54, which is a 5 minute walk from us, will take us nearly to the Lake.
Once there we start walking downstream along the river shore. Looks pretty peaceful.
But wait. We have water fall.
The path follows the river on both sides and occasionally only on one. We cross back and forth on bridges for nice pictures of the river.
There are walkers, bikers, runners, mothers with babies, and whole families along our walkway.
After an hour, we headed away from the river to a cafe and split a salad and Coke Zero for lunch.
Proceeding on...we found the river again and continued walking downstream.
There is an annual free symphonic concert in the park this evening. Rehearsal was underway as we walked by. We stopped and listened for a bit to the violin soloist.
The river falls rapidly at times.
Some of the bridges are really cool and old.
One of THOSE bridges was here also.
We walked through Mallhallen, one of those trendy food courts that we've seen in other cities in the Scandinavian countries.
Disney's Dark Wing Duck was along our route.
We found a mini swap meet happening on a small little side street and bridge.
I don't know WHY they are rebuilding the engine for THAT boat.
Eventually, we made it into downtown Oslo and walked through the Flower Market again. The flowers are SO pretty here.
This is the same view of the same street we walked yesterday that was so jammed with people.
The walk was nearly 10 miles. With lunch, shopping, sightseeing, and waterfall gazing, it just didn't seem like it was that far.
