05-24 Kristiansand, Norway

We are at the dock, but because of construction we have to take a shuttle that will drop us off about a mile away, so that we don't walk through a construction zone.

Pat had a walking tour planned for us through this city. We walked along the harbor by the marina and through some parks.

Christiansholm Fortress was once used to defend the town, then as a residence for kings and now for weddings and such.

There were some adult sized playground equipment along the waterfront; a spinning thing, a rope climbing thing, and some in the ground trampolines.

Then walked by some beaches.

We continued walking toward their river and then up the river until we got to their old part of town called Posebyen.

A little further on we stopped for lunch at a little cafe. Brian and I had good sandwiches and Pat had a cold waffle with strawberry jam.

Brian had booked us an Escape Room this morning. We have done a couple of these (with our nieces in LA in Dec) and they are really fun.

The theme was KGB. We were in a little old lady's apt and had to find the Top Secret Document. We did well, but didn't quite Escape. We found all the things in the first room and the last thing we found in that room opened a secret room behind the bookcase curio/cabinet. There were a lot of locks to find the keys for or the combinations for in the secret room.

The Globe problem had us stumped. He came in when our time was up and showed us and tried to explain in English how to locate the clue on the Globe. While he and  Pat and Brian were working on that I took the code from the Globe solution and opened the last lock on the cupboard and got out the box inside and figured out the code to open it. But it did not open. He tried several times and could not open it. So I asked what was in it. What was in it was the second piece of paper we needed in order to open the safe in the wall, which we had already found.

The Globe and the wall safe would have been our last two things to solve our room. So close.

Next we walked through Kristiansand's "Central Park", called Baneheia. Very pretty, lots of trails, rocks to climb on, lakes, big grassy areas, and views of a big amphitheater for concerts.

We found the cafe and there was a group rehearsing there with live music. We stopped for water, Coke and ice cream and listened for a while.

After the refreshment we continue on back into town and walked through the shopping area. We weren't really look for anything today.

Walked back by the harbor and sat in the sun for a while. Yes, sun! Brian had shorts on and it's a very nice sunny day.

After taking pictures of the swans that came over to us, we walked around through another harbor area and back to the shuttle bus to the ship.

Back on board, Brian went to work out and Pat and I worked on blogs and journals.

Dinner in the Lido. Then Pat and Brian played ping ping and then to 7:30 Trivia. We got 10 out of 15 and didn't win. No Music Trivia tonight.
